About Us

When we met in 2022, we quickly realized there was more between us than the routine of office life. A few trips to the mountains, a shared drive for athletic challenges, and a similar outlook on life drew us together and made us inseparable.

Welcome to Poland, welcome to Upper Silesia!

Welcome to Poland!

silesia photo

We warmly welcome you to Poland, the land of kings and Slavs, a country with a rich history, picturesque landscapes, and a unique culture. Poland is full of contrasts, from majestic mountains and tranquil lakes to wide sandy beaches, the sometimes turbulent Baltic Sea, and vibrant cities. We especially welcome you to Upper Silesia, a truly unique region full of tradition, industrial pride, and where Polish, German, and Czech influences intertwine.

Upper Silesia

silesia photo

This area is famous for heavy industry, particularly coal mining. Beneath the surface of Silesia lie deposits of “black gold,” which have shaped the economy, city architecture, and the character of its inhabitants for centuries. The Upper Silesian Coal Basin covers approximately 4,500 km², making it one of the largest coal mining areas in Europe. The region also features mining phenomena, such as road irregularities known as subsidence, occasional perceptible tremors, and distinctive industrial-style buildings.

Culture and tradition

Upper Silesia has a rich culture, its own language, unique customs, and a flavorful cuisine. Silesian cities form an industrial agglomeration, comprising around 40 developed urban centers, which together create the vibrant heart of the region. It is a place where tradition meets modernity, and industrial history coexists with the daily life of its residents, while simultaneously educating, inspiring, and inviting exploration.

Silesia and Beskids

Upper Silesia is not just about industry — in the southern part of the region lie the picturesque Beskid Mountains, full of hiking trails, forests, and stunning landscapes, providing the perfect place to relax and connect with nature. We hope that your stay here will allow you not only to participate in our celebration but also to experience the unique atmosphere, meet the people, and discover the culture and beauty of Upper Silesia.

Good to Know

When visiting Poland, it’s useful to be aware of a few basic rules and practical tips to ensure a comfortable and safe stay.

Currency and payments

The official currency is the Polish złoty (PLN). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in most places.

1 EUR ≈ 4,2 PLN
1 CHF ≈ 4,5 PLN

Phone and internet

Poland has 4G coverage, and 5G is available in larger cities. Wi-Fi is widely available in hotels, restaurants, and cafés.

Tipping

It is customary to leave around 10% of the bill in restaurants if service was satisfactory, but it is not obligatory.

Highways

There is no need for a vignette; most highways are free to use except for certain private toll sections. In Upper Silesia, the Katowice–Kraków highway section costs 34 PLN, and payment by card is possible at toll booths.

Daytime headlights

Driving with daytime headlights on is mandatory at all times, regardless of the time of day or weather conditions.

Speed cameras and limits

Speed cameras are always marked with signs, but police may also monitor speed from hidden positions.

Transport

Public transport is well developed in cities, and taxis should be booked through apps or licensed providers.

Emergency numbers

The general emergency number 112 works throughout Poland and is also serviced in English.

Safety

Poland is a safe country, but it is always advisable to take standard precautions, especially in crowded areas.
